City of Miami guide

Uploading your Miami permit documents to ProjectDox

ProjectDox is the City of Miami’s electronic plan review system. After applying in iBuild, you upload drawings and documents here — and the project only moves forward once the upload task is completed.

The upload sequence

  • Apply in iBuild and receive your process number (Building permits start with BD)
  • Open ProjectDox from the “Manage Your Plans Reviews” area
  • On the Task tab, find your project number and accept the “Applicant Upload” task
  • Upload drawings and documents into the correct folders
  • Complete the task so the project is submitted for review

Naming files correctly

Every file needs a discipline code and number in capitals, with no spaces or special characters — for example DOC-0.pdf, PAP-01.pdf, NOA-1.pdf or A-1.pdf. Drawings are one landscape sheet per file. Use our free ProjectDox File Checker at /projectdox-file-checker to test names before uploading; it runs in your browser.

Common mistakes

Uploading files but never completing the task, uploading into the wrong folder, or using unclear file names. For building permit upload questions, the City lists ePlanBuilding@miamigov.com.
